I have said before that “normal” is a setting on a washing machine. The “normal guy” goes nowhere and does nothing. Leaders are different from the group. You can’t be “normal” and be a leader.
Be different from other people and you will go farther than you ever dreamed. On an average day we spend almost 2 hours talking with someone else. This is roughly 10,000-20,000 words. This seems like a lot. Here is the kicker this is only .05% of the words you speak to yourself on a daily basis.

If you wanted to be a good musician, then this doesn’t happen over night. It takes years of dedicated practice. Could you spend an hour or two a day practising if you didn’t think of yourself as a musician? It’s unlikely. You need to FEEL like a musician and believe you’re one in order to practice like one.

Think that you’re a great musician NOW, and you will feverishly work to make it happen. Your mind won’t feel right when you play badly. You will expect to be better, and will work to reach this ‘equilibrium’.

Loss aversion

Our minds are more motivated to avoid loss that they are to seek gain. Marketers have known this for years. They know that a person is more likely to take action to avoid a loss in their lives – and they play on this.

Insurance companies scare people into taking action to avoid a loss, and they make billions doing so.

People fear their houses burning down, and spend hard earned cash insuring against this. They may not be taking as much action to improve their house. They are acting to keep what they’ve got. If they used the money they were spending on insurance, they could improve their house instead.

Negative thinking can make you focus on avoiding a loss, rather than reaching out for a gain. Luckily you an do something to combat this.

Visualise

Visualise your success as if it is happening NOW.

Close your eyes and see your success as real as you can. Use all your senses. See yourself enjoying the lifestyle of your chosen success. Enjoy the feeling.

If you can visualise, you have a chance of getting there. Your mind will believe you have already attained this success – it believes what you imagine has really happened.

This will cause you to EXPECT success. You will no longer consider it a bonus – it will be essential. You won’t rest until you have it. You have tasted it in your imagination, and you won’t want to let it go.

If you want a luxury villa by the beach, then visualising it will help. See all the rooms, smell the salty sea air, feel the hot sun and the cool breeze caressing your skin. When you come home to your dusty apartment on the busy roadside, your mind will say “This isn’t right, where’s my beach house?!”

This sense of “loss” can motivate you to take action and work towards your birth right of a luxury beach villa. It won’t happen by magic, but it will help motivate you to make it happen.

I notice this with car owners. People who have a car and something happens to it will usually move heaven and earth to get another one. They find a way to acquire another car in quick time. If they’d never experienced life with one, they wouldn’t be so motivated.

Final thoughts Whatever you want in life, believe you have it NOW.

Visualise it so that your mind has experienced your life with this success. Once you’ve had a taste of success, you won’t want to let it go. You will be salivating and hungry for achievement, and won’t let up until you get what you deserve. Smell the blood and go for the kill!

You can throw perfume, or you can throw manure. No matter your choice, whatever you throw at someone else, remains stuck on you first!

Realize, you are who you associate with. Real Eyes, will see you can only give away what you already have. Real lies, will whisper in your ear if, “I just give it one more good try, this time things will be different.”

Pick your friends, family, and business associates wisely. They are throwing perfume or manure at you, equally as often as you throw one or the other at them.

This is good news. Why? Because if you want to be more happy, peaceful, or achieve any new goal, you will attain the result more quickly if you surround yourself with people who already have what you are seeking.

Like any new language you want to master fluently, you have to practice it regularly to make it your own. Surrounding yourself in transformation is like throwing the fragrance on yourself, the pleasant fragrance you want to magnify.

Lets take an example.

Identify what it is you want to achieve. Now write the desire down on three separate pieces of paper.

Tape the first note on something you will listen to which will teach you about how to achieve this goal. It could be a download you will listen to when you are exercising, a cd you will listen to as you are driving to and from work, or a disk you can play in the background while you are paying bills or catching up on your email’s. No shame in multi-tasking here!

The next note will go on something you will watch, which will educate you on achieving your goal. Perhaps a television show, a seminar on your computer, or DVD you will rent from a master in your topic of choice. This shouldn’t take more than one hour to complete. You want the task to be enjoyable, not exhaustive.

Last, but not least, place the third note on your bathroom mirror where you will see it every morning and evening as you brush your teeth. This message will remind you to associate with people who have what you want. Looking at them, will help you see yourself more clearly. If you don’t already have a friend who has what you want, think of new places where you can meet these types of people, and go there. Your library, gym, woman’s advocate center, adult education class, the opportunities are endless. We all need more good mentors at every age.

When you surround yourself in the visual, auditory, and physical presence of the transformation you are trying to achieve, you will automatically without much effort, become those things you are focusing upon.

Change is not difficult, all laws of nature indicate change is inevitable. Night and day, rain and sunshine, winter and summer. Everything is changing. Just check how many candles you have lit on your birthday cake to easily validate that!
